Gibberish & Poetry

You know what I like about poetry?

You can speak about nothing and its good sounding

We get to freestyle with nonsense

and emphasize it as if it made sense

That's Gibberish & Poetry…

Saying stuff like you know what I mean!

Just to get to the ending

I'm just sharing some rhythm sounds

to relax your mind

Not to think about it so much

but soothe & caress the lines

No need to understand it- it's a concept of gibberish

It aint that serious!!!

       My name is Tamu Watkins; I was born and raised in Seattle Washington. The 2nd of 7 children. I come from a very creative and  talented background of performers and writers. Both parents being published writers and artists it was destined that I too would inherit this gift. Sense a very early age performing and writing has been a passion of mine. I grew up in performance art which gave me the desire to do more with my gift.     As well as being a mother of two children and operating a  business as a salon owner; more recently I have dedicated much of my time to writing and performing. I have performed in many different artistic venues in the Seattle area as well as other states. I feel I have a unique flow of spoken word and music, interacting with different sounds and expression to keep the performance fun and entertaining. I’ve been compared to artists from Erykah Badu & the soulful sounds of Jill Scott to the Group Floetry. I feel I have a truly unique flow of poetry and music.    Some of my experience includes performing at Seattle community festivals and night clubs. I've performed in Los Angeles and Las Vegas as well as collaborating with different artists and musicians.    Recently I began a CD project of my Spoken Word flow with the support & collaboration of Jeffery Fletcher of All Star Recording, Bobby Shorts of Soul Hop and Michael Powers of Michael Powers Music Group.    My goal is to reach a large listening audience and take my sound as far as it will go around the world.
